As the COVID-19 pandemic has developed globally over the first six months of 2020, the role of JOSCAR has played a critical part in assisting prime contractors in managing and communicating with their supply chains

In March 2020, Hellios received a request from the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence requesting a note be issued to all suppliers registered on JOSCAR regarding the continuation of defence services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The letter detailed the importance of adhering to the strict social distancing guidelines enforced by the government, but also thanked defence contractors for their commitment and services to vital operations. Hellios have also issued on behalf of Jim Carter, Commercial Director, Supply Chain at the Ministry of Defence a letter containing guidance and further information on the COIVD-19 pandemic and policy notes detailing the need for suppliers within the Defence Sector to procure goods, services and works with extreme urgency. The correspondence also contained important information regarding the furloughing of staff and the Interim Payment Policy to provide vital assistance and reassurance during these unprecedented times.
