Enhanced Supplier Oversight:
New Alerts

Introduction
From January 2025 Hellios will be providing new, high-quality data driven insights covering adverse media and sanctions alerts for all published suppliers. Hellios have partnered with a market leading data provider to supplement the primary data provided by suppliers across all communities with high quality secondary data covering these key subject areas.
The data feeds are based on over 700 Sanction, watch, regulatory and enforcement lists and 12,000 trusted news sources for Adverse Media screening with a global reach. The sanction check is against current sanctions lists, and the adverse media analysis includes a retrospective review of between 5 and 10 years. The data will be independently verified by the data provider before being published by Hellios.
As with all Hellios data, the information is provided to enable buyers to make faster and better-informed decisions. Hellios will not reject or ‘fail’ a supplier based on a sanction or adverse media alert as that decision remains with the buying organisation.
Benefits for buyers
Streamlining Risk Detection
The data will allow buyers to quickly and accurately identify entities that are affiliated with FATF-predicate crimes and alert them to other adverse information indicative of criminal, regulatory, or legal risk.
Daily Sanctions Alerts
The alerts will focus on current data and will be refreshed daily. The sanctions analysis and alerts are completed at the supplier legal entity level and will not cover beneficial owners or any named individuals.
Adverse Media Alerts
The Adverse Media alert for a specific legal entity may occasionally pick up information related to parent companies and/or subsidiaries as the matching logic is broad. As a result, it is advised that customers use these alerts as information only and carry out additional checks if desired.
How it works?
The alerts will be displayed on the supplier summary page for all published suppliers and will be visible to all Buyers, but the information will not be accessible to the supplier community.
Buyers can ‘follow’ suppliers via the search results page or from the supplier’s Overview page. When following, buyer users will receive an email when the followed supplier(s) has an adverse media or sanctions-based alert raised against their supplier account. This email will summarise the results for all followed suppliers into a single communication. Alerts will not be included in the reporting tool at this time.
Any alerts that Buyers regard as ‘false’ can be reported back to Hellios through a dedicated mailbox.

Who are Hellios?
Hellios Information is a global company with offices in the UK, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Denmark and Australia. The team has extensive experience in simplifying the collection and management of supplier data. Hellios works with over 100 buying organisations globally and the communities currently hold data for over 10,000 suppliers in the Financial Services and Aerospace and Defence sectors. Hellios are subject to the due diligence controls of the buyer firms and hold ISO9001, ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and DISP certification.
What is the role of Hellios?
Hellios oversees the JOSCAR-AU community of buyers and suppliers, collecting and validating the data provided by suppliers and ensuring the data is maintained in the online portal. The information gathered through JOSCAR-AU is used to support the buyer’s evaluation of a supplier. Hellios will manage the screening and altering process on behalf of the buyers, but will not pass/fail a supplier based on the Sanctions or Adverse Media alerts.
What is the scope and frequency of sanction checks?
Checks are limited to legal entities only and are based on company name and address (not individuals, 4th parties, directors, or beneficial owners). These are refreshed daily against current active sanctions records. Historic sanctions that are no longer relevant will not be returned.
Can I share the results of the sanctions check with my suppliers?
Hellios will not be displaying any Sanctions alerts with the supplier through the Hellios portal. Buyers cannot share alert information with suppliers through the Hellios platform, and it is up to the Buyer to decide how it treats any Sanctions alerts with their suppliers in line with local and international regulatory practice outside of the Hellios service.
What is the scope and frequency of adverse media alerts?
The alerts focus on supplier legal entities, based on company name and address, but may include some parent company/subsidiary information due to the breadth of the matching logic being used. These are refreshed daily with a retrospective analysis of between 5 and 10 years depending on the risk category.
Which suppliers are in scope?
This service is available for all published supplier records in all Hellios communities, the alert service will not be available for expired suppliers or those that have yet to complete their submission or renewal.
How do I manage alerts?
Alerts will be visible on the supplier overview page in the buyer portal and will not be visible to suppliers. Users can use the existing follow function to receive email alerts and can unfollow suppliers at any time in the same way. Alerts for followed suppliers will be included in a daily digest email alongside documentation and process status changes and financial health alerts already provided.
What happens if a supplier generates an alert?
Hellios will not automatically fail suppliers with sanction hits and act based on adverse media alerts. The ownership of those risks remains with the Buyer.
What if I don’t agree with an alert?
False notifications can be reported via dedicated mailbox joscar@hellios.com.au and Hellios will investigate with the data provider.
