Hanwha Defence Australia joins JOSCAR-AU to strengthen supplier assurance

How standardising supplier assurance is helping Hanwha Defence Australia move faster and build deeper ties with Australian industry.

Hanwha Defence Australia has joined JOSCAR-AU - a move that marks another step forward in its commitment to building a globally competitive Australian industrial base. 

More than just a platform, JOSCAR-AU is a growing supplier assurance community designed to help Defence buyers work faster, smarter, and with greater confidence. With JOSCAR-AU, we’re helping Hanwha Defence Australia to simplify supplier onboarding, reduce duplication, and access validated primary data on nearly 2,000 suppliers - all while contributing to a shared model that benefits Australian industry as a whole. 

With 15 Defence primes now participating in the JOSCAR-AU community, the collective scale and maturity of the group is unlocking greater supply chain insights and raising the bar on how supplier engagement is done across Australia. 

By using JOSCAR-AU, Hanwha Defence Australia aims to streamline supplier assurance and assessment lifecycle processes, reducing duplication for their suppliers.

Hanwha Defence Australia joins a growing list of Defence organisations using JOSCAR AU to improve supplier engagement, reduce friction, and support Australia’s sovereign Defence goals. 

About Hanwha Defence Australia 

Hanwha Defence Australia is a subsidiary of Hanwha Aerospace, a division of the vast Republic of Korea Fortune 500 conglomerate Hanwha Corporation. Hanwha Corporation has been operating in Australia since 2005 in areas including mining equipment, logistics and sustainable energy.

Headquartered in Melbourne, Hanwha Defence Australia was established in 2019 with an initial focus on Land Systems. The company signed a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia to supply self-propelled artillery systems under LAND 8116, a $0.9 billion to $1.3 billion project. 

Hanwha Defence Australia signed acquisition and initial support contracts for LAND 400 Phase 3 with a combined value of approximately $4.5 billion dollars at the end of 2023. The contracts will enable the delivery of the Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) capability to the Australian Army, Army’s largest ever acquisition program, to date.

All Hanwha vehicles will be manufactured in the Greater Geelong area of Victoria at the HDA Armoured vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE).
