JOSCAR Award alumni join forces to tackle obsolescence in Defence
Winslow Adaptics and Advent IM—both past JOSCAR SME Innovation Award winners—have collaborated on a new podcast exploring the impact of obsolescence across the Defence industry. Obsolescence is often overlooked. It weakens supply chains, increases cyber risk, and compromises system integrity. That’s why Advent IM wanted to deep dive into the topic. They invited John Dyson, Technical Sales Manager at Winslow Adaptics and Vice Chair of IIOM UK & Ireland, to join the podcast panel. The two organisations met at JOSCAR Live 2024.
The discussion covers:
- Engineering and security risks of obsolete systems
- How legacy tech enables counterfeiting
- Why obsolescence planning is key in procurement
- The role of IIOM UK and global collaboration
- Long-term strategies for system sustainability
Understand why this risk is growing - and how to respond.
“JOSCAR Live and the SME Innovation Award created the space for collaboration -connecting us with Winslow Adaptics and making this podcast panel even better.”
Mike Gillespie, CEO, Advent IM
Where could the JOSCAR SME Innovation Award take you?
The SME Award isn’t just a trophy. It puts your business in front of the UK’s biggest defence buyers and helps open doors to real collaboration. If you’re solving real problems in the supply chain - whether it’s sustainability, security or resilience - we want to hear from you. Winners get direct visibility across the JOSCAR community and the chance to connect with peers tackling similar challenges.
“Two years on, the JOSCAR SME Award continues to open doors - this podcast with Advent IM is just one example of the lasting impact.”
John Dyson, Business Development, Winslow Adaptics
