Orlando Fernández
Senior Technical Specialist - Bank of England
Orlando Fernández is a Senior Technical Specialist at the Recovery, Resolution and Resilience team in the Prudential Policy Directorate of the Bank of England (BoE). He has been with the BoE working on a range of policy areas for 13 years. In his current role, Orlando focuses on cyber, operational resilience and third-party risk management. In that capacity, Orlando was one of the key architects of the: new regime for critical third parties to the UK financial sector, which was developed jointly by the BoE/Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA); and PRA Supervisory Statement on ‘Outsourcing and third-party risk management’ (SS2/21). On the international front, Orlando has represented the BoE at the: Financial Stability Board (FSB) where he was a major contributor to the third party risk management toolkit for financial authorities and financial institutions published in 2023. Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, where he was part of the expert group that developed the draft Principles for the sound management of third-party risk published earlier this year. European Banking Authority (EBA) expert group that produced the 2019 Guidelines on Outsourcing.

George is the Chief Procurement Officer for Lloyds Banking Group. With 30-years’ business experience gained in the global hi-tech manufacturing and financial services industries - specialising in sourcing, supply chain management, sustainability, supplier assurance, risk management, mergers and acquisitions. A transformational business leader who is commercially astute and customer focused. With a track record of building high performing and diverse teams to design, develop and deliver business strategies for benchmark results. A strong believer in talent progression, diversity and lifelong learning being at the heart of business success. Ian has 17 years of experience in third party risk management and outsourcing, including transformation, operating models, execution, and framework design and implementation. He has worked with a number of the world’s leading financial institutions across Europe and North America and has designed, implemented, and optimised TPRM programmes in complex and distributed environments. He leads PwC’s global Third-Party Assessments centre of excellence, ensuring standards and methodology are consistently applied and delivered, as well as being the TPRM Transformation Leader in the UK.

Group Chief Executive – NFU Mutual
Nick was appointed Group Chief Executive of NFU Mutual in April 2021 after eight years on the board as Sales & Agency Director, and is responsible for managing the business of the UK’s leading rural insurer. Nick first joined the NFU Mutual board in 2013 and for eight years, managed the Group’s Agency network across the UK, as well as Distribution and Sales for General Insurance and Financial Services. Nick has a long association with the Chartered Insurance Institute and was President in 2019/20. In 2016/17, he was President of the CII’s Personal Finance Society, the professional body for financial advisers across the UK. Prior to becoming president, Nick was member Director for five years bringing both strategic and practical expertise to the Personal Finance Society board. Before joining NFU Mutual, Nick spent 27 years at AXA in a wide variety of roles in Sales and Business Development as well as Marketing and Strategy across Life, General Insurance and Global Partnerships. Nick enjoys playing guitar, drawing graphic novels and rural walking with his partner Dee, and their two dogs.

Risk and Regulations — The Role of AI in TPRM

Chair: Dr Steve New
Steve New is Associate Professor in Operations Management and Director of Graduate Studies at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and Senior Fellow at Hertford College. Steve began his career as an engineer, working for Rolls Royce while completing a degree in physics at Southampton University. After a spell in management consultancy, he completed his doctorate at Manchester Business School (MBS). This work was sponsored by the Eaton Corporation, for whom Steve worked while studying.He subsequently taught at the Manchester School of Management, UMIST (now merged with MBS), before joining Saïd Business School in 1996, where he has served as Vice Dean of the school. Steve has published extensively in the fields of procurement, supply chain management and quality improvement, with his work appearing in journals ranging from the Harvard Business Review to the British Medical Journal. Much of his work is inter-disciplinary, and he collaborates extensively with colleagues from across disciplines. He regularly works as a consultant with a wide range of clients in the private, public and third sectors.

Ayo’ is the Head of Procurement at Castle Trust Bank, responsible for sourcing and third-party risk management. He has over 15 years of experience in procurement and supply chain roles and has previously worked at Capita and UKCloud. At these organisations, he delivered projects aligning procurement strategies with business growth and resilience. His professional interests include optimising procurement and supply chain processes with technology.

Sharon Gould
Supplier Security Risk Manager - Nationwide Building Society
Sharon leads the third party security and resilience risk team. Conducting supplier due diligence and managing risk through the life of the engagement, including cyber health monitoring in the supply chain. Sharon has over thirty years of experience in data protection and cyber security, working in the charitable and police sectors, as well as financial services. She began her career working for the Information Commission where she developed her commitment to individual rights in relation to data protection and the security of personal data. Coming from a legal compliance background, Sharon has a law degree, is a Certified Information Security Manager and a Certified GDPR Practitioner. Sharon currently represents Nationwide as an Ambassador to the National Cyber Resilience Centres Group, working with Policing & NCSC to promote Cyber Essentials to SMEs.
