It cleverly surfaces metrics and creates a clear, easy to follow dashboard.
-
It provides actionable intelligence and advice on how yourself as a supplier can improve your score.
-
It encourages honest and open conversations between you and your buyers about how you are working towards sustainability objectives and goals.
-
Both you and your buyers have the same dashboard view and can see which questions from the questionnaire contribute to which pillar (E, S or G) and key themes within each of these.

Terminology
-
Pillars - Environmental [E], Social [S], Governance [G]
-
Themes - Key areas of focus within each ‘pillar’
-
Absolute score - Shows the proportion of positive responses to the sustainability questions, providing insight into the size of the improvement opportunity for your organisation.
-
Relative score - Compares you to other organisations of a similar size, to see performance compared to peers. This ensures that the comparisons being made between you and your buyers are useful and fair.
How has the score been calculated?
Once you finish your Hellios questionnaire, your responses are used to calculate your Sustainability Analysis, which covers all three pillars: Environmental, Social and Governance, as well as several key themes for each pillar that have been defined by extensive academic research into valid sustainability sources.
Sustainability Analysis calculates a set of scores for each pillar and theme and identifies positive actions you have taken already with areas you may also be able to makes changes to improve your sustainability performance. The scoring is divided into two parts: an Absolute score and a Relative score.
-
Absolute score - Shows the proportion of positive responses to the sustainability questions, providing insight into the size of the improvement opportunity for your organisation.
-
Relative score - Compares you to other organisations of a similar size, to see performance compared to peers. This ensures that the comparisons being made between you and your buyers are useful and fair
Size is based on entity annual revenue (parent company is not taken into consideration.) Sustainability Analysis has reviewed the stage 2 latest published year of accounts in the first instance, where these are not available, the stage 1 annual revenue response is used. If stage 2 data is not populated/is entered as zero and the stage 1 annual revenue is entered as zero, then Sustainability Analysis cannot be calculated.

Using both of your scores provides valuable insights into your current performance, to help you enhance your organisation’s reputation and your overall approach to sustainability.
The analysis will highlight areas where you are excelling in comparison to other organisations of a similar size, and also areas of improvement. These may be things that other similar sized organisations are already doing, or areas where you could stand out.
Why can you rely on the Sustainability Analysis scoring and improvement areas?
Sustainability Analysis scoring and improvement areas are based on credible research, transparent methods, and fair data driven evaluation. The framework is grounded in academic research and aligns with both global and local regulatory requirements, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
The questions asked are developed by the buyer members of each community, meaning they directly reflect the priorities of that sector. Both you and your buyers have visibility into the questions that contribute to each theme and pillar, ensuring full transparency in how scores are determined.

How can I improve my score?
Absolute score – There are actions that have been identified that your company could take to improve your sustainability performance based on your questionnaire responses. You will find questions that would impact your Absolute score in a positive way, improving your score, at the bottom of your summary page or within each theme on the ‘Details’ tab.
Relative score - There are more suppliers of a similar size who are performing well in this area. You will find questions that may impact your Relative score in a positive way, improving your score, at the bottom of your summary page or within each theme on the ‘Details’ tab. The ‘impact’ shows how this would affect your score if you were to put this measure in place and the ‘Positive responses’ shows what proportion of suppliers of a similar size are already doing it.
Scores will only be updated once your questionnaire has been resubmitted, successfully validated and published once more.

Please refer to Sustainability Analysis to provide specific actions an organisation can take to improve.
Data entered within the questionnaire will be validated in line with the guidelines set out by the buyer members of each community and you may be asked to evidence it to buyers.
The suggested actions identified are those that are already being done by similar sized organisations or are things that would make your organisation stand out. Each supplier organisation may wish to complete the actions suggested, however, they are not required to, so a conversation with your buyers regarding what is realistic for your organisation may help.
Can I download a copy of the data?
Yes, you can download the Sustainability Analysis Summary page or Details Page. The file name will include your organisation’s name and the date that the download was completed.

Your buyer customers are also able to download the same views in their buyer portal.
How often will the score be updated?
Your Absolute score will update each time your questionnaire is published. Your Relative score updates weekly, and may change for a few reasons:
-
Your revenue has been updated in the questionnaire (by your organisation or Company Watch data has been updated) and you are now compared to different organisations based on your new size
-
More suppliers have joined the supplier community
-
Other suppliers within your group have amended their responses
-
You have completed your Hellios questionnaire in the last few days, so the Relative score has not been calculated yet
How frequently will the Sustainability Analysis content be reviewed?
The Sustainability Analysis question set will be reviewed in line with the annual questionnaire review, unless there is a requirement for a mid-year update due to changes in regulation or legislation. This process is governed by the buyer members.
